Bio

Paul J. Geissinger is a classical trained composer and producer from Philadelphia. Paul holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degrees from Temple University in Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media, and a Game Audio Design and Production Professional Certificate from Berklee Online.  He has taught music production, business, engineering, theory and entrepreneurship in higher education for over 15 years at the Community College of Philadelphia, University of the Arts, Temple University and Cabrini College.  Paul has spent the last two decades recording and releasing music under the moniker Starkey, having released on labels including Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, Deadbeats, Night Bass, Werk Discs, Smog and the labels he owns, Seclusiasis and NOREMIXES.  Paul has also produced and remixed artists across the musical spectrum from classical Decca recording artists including Ludovico Einaudi and Laura Wright, to dance music acts including Erol Alkan, Armand Van Helden and Zomby, to rock and hiphop artists including The Foals and Gorilla Zoe.

Paul’s music has appeared in various television shows, video games and advertisements across diverse media platforms, and he also scored two films from director Josh Cohen (Adult Swim, Comedy Central) accepted into the Cannes Film Festival’s Short Film category.  He also scored the award winning NSC Creative VR experience Vestige, [ Steam / Oculus Rift ] a selection of the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival.  (The AR version, Fragments, is also available.)

Paul has been featured on BBC Radio 1, where he produced a song live on air during Mary Anne Hobbs’ show and has been a resident DJ on BBC Radio 1Xtra.  He also regularly DJ’s on London’s legendary Rinse FM.

Paul has had concert music commissioned by Chamber Music Now and Temple University.  Reviewing one of his works, “Bending Light (for cello, electronics and visuals)”, David Patrick Stearn of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote, “The piece that best showed what’s possible in this audio-visual fusion… Somebody earnest and thoughtful was definitely behind that camera.”

Paul has produced original music and sound design, created presets and sample libraries, and provided beta testing for renowned hardware and software companies around the world, including Polyend (Tracker), Native Instruments (Battery 4, Molekular, Monark), and Intua (Beatmaker 3)
